‘We Are The World’ for Haiti

Twenty-five years after its first released, American singers are re-making the song that raised awareness of the famine in Africa, the song ‘We Are the World’ is now being recorded to seek help in the relief efforts for the victims of the killer quake in Haiti.

More than 70 artists lent their voices to the song including Barbra Streisand, Kanye West, Celine Dion, Tony Bennett, Miley Cyrus and Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls.

Quincy Jones and the song’s co-writer Lionel Richie oversees the new recording. The song will make its world premiere during NBC’s coverage of the Vancouver Winter Olympics on February 12.

All proceeds will go to a newly established We Are the World Foundation that will carefully monitor disbursement.
