Mayweather vs. Mosley in the Works

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer announced Monday that they are working on a possible match-up between Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Sugar Shane Mosley.

‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley is about to fight the Haitian-American boxer, Andre Berto for the WBA-WBC Welterweight belt unification bout which is scheduled on January 30, 2010. But due to the recent earthquake in his hometown, Berto withdrew from the fight.

Although Golden Boy Promotions had reserved the MGM Grand on March 13 for the defunct Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, Schaefer is not certain if Mosley would want the fight to be held on the said date, another date that is being considered is on May 1st.

"I think the first thing is going to be to see if a deal structure can be done, and then worry about the date," Schaefer said. "Floyd Mayweather against Shane Mosley is one of the biggest fights in the sport. They are two superstars, it would be a pick-em fight.

"The date will fall into place, but the first thing is to find a deal structure that is acceptable to everyone. That is what I’m working on."
